Research and analysis on the fulfillment of the social order

International Organization of the "Open Society Institute" - Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan

Since August 2021, PO "Bonuvoni Fardo" of the Khatlon region has been implementing the project “Research and Analysis on the Implementation of the Social Order”, supported by the International Organization of the "Open Society Institute" - Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan. The study was conducted in the districts: Dusti, Kubodiyon, Shahritus, Nosir Khusrav and in the Bokhtar city. A total of 202 respondents took part in the study, including 38 organizations providing social services to the population and 164 clients receiving social services. Based on the results of the sociological study, an analytical report was compiled, which included the research methodology, an analysis of the legislative framework of the Republic of Tajikistan for the implementation of social acts and social services, and a comparative analysis with the republics of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. An analytical report of a survey of 202 respondents was made, as well as conclusions, recommendations and proposals for improving the provision of social services.

 

Creating or supporting a network of local activists and legal aid centers in the Shahritus and Nosiri-Khusrav districts of Khatlon region and access to information and legal services

From 15 October 2021 Public Organization "Bonuvoni Fardo"  began its activities as part of the annual project "Creating or supporting a network of local activists and legal aid centers in the Shahritus and Nosiri-Khusrav districts of Khatlon region and access to information and legal services", funded by DAI /USAID “Loiha oid ba kishovarzi va idorakunii zaminkhoi kishovarzi dar Tojikiston”.
Project Goal: Improve conditions conducive to local land management in Shahritus and Nosir Khusrav districts, provision of land management services, creation of incentives and opportunities for equal participation in the land market.

Women's access to land

Mama Kesh/Netherlands

Public organization "Bonuvoni fardo" of Khatlon region within the framework of the project "Women's access to land" supported by Mama Kesh/Netherlands for 12 months from October 2020 to September 2021 in Shahrituz and Nosir Khusrav districts conducted 60 trainings for 1229 rural women informed women about their rights to land. Also, 12 trainings were held for 137 representatives of local authorities and self-government. Every day throughout the year, rural women approached the "Bonuvoni Fardo" organization with various questions on access to land. Legal practical assistance was provided and obtaining documents for land use was lobbied for 306 women, including 193 women in Shartuz and 113 women in N. Khusrav. 262 women received a certificate to own a household plot, 37 women received a certificate to establish a dekhkan farm, 2 women received land and built a shop, 1 woman received a land use certificate to build a service center, 1 woman received land to build a field camp, 2 women received a construction of a sports ground, 1 woman received under the construction of a banquet hall. 11 women handed over the land as an inheritance. 24 thematic articles were published in the newspapers of 2 districts “Subkhi Shakhritus” and “Beshkent” and 12 posts in the social network.

Household Waste Management

Caritas Internationalis in Tajikistan

The public organization “Bonuvoni fardo”, with the support of Caritas Internationalis in Tajikistan, conducted a training program on the topic “Household Waste Management” in March and April 2021. These events were held in the Kabadiyan district of the Khatlon region. In order to effectively conduct the trainings, the team was trained in the TOT training for trainers on modules for working with an adult audience and adolescents. 51 trainings were held for 1281 people of the adult population and 26 trainings for 673 high school students No. 1 and 2 of the Kabadiyan district.

16 days of activism against gender-based violence

UN Women in Tajikistan

The public organization "Bonuvoni Fardo" of the Khatlon region and the UN Organization - Women in Tajikistan, in honor of 16 days, launched an information campaign to prevent gender-based violence. The purpose of the campaign is to draw public attention to the prevention and counteraction of gender-based violence, to intensify the activities of state institutions and the public to unite efforts to protect human rights. As part of the campaign, 8 thematic posts, 6 articles were published in the social space in the 3 district newspapers of Shaartuz, Kubodiyon and Nosir Khusrav, reflecting aspects of gender-based violence, opportunities to protect the rights of victims of violence, as well as a training was held in the Shartuz region and encouragement for a tolerant attitude each other during the pandemic, a thematic 12-minute video clip was broadcast three times on Khatlon TV.

Prevention of Domestic Violence

GOPA / PDV

Within the framework of the project "Prevention of Domestic Violence", funded by GOPA / PDV at the expense of the Government of Switzerland, they provided assistance in the prevention of domestic violence and the provision of legal and social assistance to victims of domestic violence. They also held large-scale campaigns, contests and quizzes, informed the population about the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Prevention of Domestic Violence”, assisted the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Khukumats of the Shartuz and Kabadian regions, increased the potential of the local police and interactions on issuing protective orders. Established fruitful cooperation with local authorities. Together with the Committee on Women and Family Affairs, an action plan has been developed and joint activities are being carried out.

Empowering girls and women with disabilities through their involvement in the confectionery business

Embassy of America

NGO "Bonuvoni fardo" in the jamoats of Kholmatov, Obshoron and the village of Shakhrituz of the Khatlon region held five 4-day master classes in pastry baking. These events were held within the framework of the project "Empowering girls and women with disabilities through their involvement in the confectionery business", supported by the Embassy of America. 60 girls and women with disabilities took part in the master classes. This training was carried out with the aim of improving the quality of life of 60 girls and women with disabilities in Shakhrituz through master classes and consulting assistance in confectionery.

Capacity building of mahalla committees of Qubodiyon

Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia - Tajikistan

Through cooperation between Civil Society Organizations, mahalla committees and business structures of the NGO "Bonuvoni fardo" of Khatlon region according to the initiative "Capacity building of mahalla committees of Qubodiyon", within the framework of the project "Activation of civil society organizations as actors in the field of management, reporting and project implementation for Development of Rural Areas”, implemented in cooperation with the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia - Tajikistan with the financial support of the European Union, continues to work and develop the mahalla committees of Kubodiyon.

Efficient production is a guarantee of economic stability

UNDP / Government of Finland

Within the framework of the project “Efficient production is a guarantee of economic stability”, supported by UNDP / Government of Finland, the public organization “Bonuvoni fardo” of Khatlon region, through the purchase of specialized equipment for Zebo-75 LLC, Shartuz region, expanded the sewing workshop, and created 10 additional permanent jobs for women. During the 10-day training / master class, the professional level of knowledge and skills of 30 women in sewing school uniforms was improved. By improving the technical equipment of the workshop, it was possible to increase the volume and quality of products. A school sales fair was held.

Basics of Budgeting and Involvement of the Population

International Organization of the Open Society Institute - the Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan

Within the framework of the project “Basics of Budgeting and Involvement of the Population”, supported by the International Organization of the Open Society Institute - the Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan, the NGO “Bonuvoni fardo” conducted a series of trainings in Shakhrituz for 50 representatives of civil society, Hukumat, Jamoat, regional financial department, department education, deputies, mahalla leaders and activists on the topic: "The main approaches and components of the development of the local budget, budget advocacy and opportunities for budget involvement." The trainings were held with the aim of informing the population about the formation of district budget items and involving them in this process.

Lobbying the rights of persons with disabilities in Shakhrituz

Open Society Institute - the Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan

Within the framework of the project "Lobbying the rights of persons with disabilities in Shakhrituz", we have contributed by building 4 ramps and unhindered access for persons with disabilities to healthcare facilities in Shakhrituz: a maternity hospital, a cardiology and resuscitation department, a polyclinic. The initiative of the PO "Bonuvoni fardo" was supported by the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation - Tajikistan. For this initiative, the NGO "Bonuvoni fardo" was awarded a letter of thanks from the Central District Hospital of the Shartuz District.

Improving access to diagnosis and promotion of treatment of tuberculosis among migrants and their families

HOPE

Employees of the NGO "Bonuvoni fardo" of Khatlon region, within the framework of the project "Improving access to diagnosis and promotion of treatment of tuberculosis among migrants and their families", supported by HOPE, in Shartuz and Kabadian of Khatlon region conducted outreach to inform migrants and their families about tuberculosis in the lesions. Individuals with suspected symptoms of tuberculosis were sent for diagnosis. Positively identified patients were taken under treatment control. This activity was carried out in close contact with laboratories and centers of anti-tuberculosis service in 2 districts.

Capacity Development of Regional Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the Rule of Law and Women’s Empowerment at the Regional Level

Under the contract with UNDP under the project “Capacity Development of Regional Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the Rule of Law and Women’s Empowerment at the Regional Level”, small-scale implementation studies were conducted in Jaihun, Yavan, Vose, Dusti, and J. Balkhi districts of Khatlon region rights of people with disabilities, a monitoring study of the activities of the Legal Aid Centers and prepared a report with infographics, carrying out monitoring control over the provision of legal aid.
The project also held 6 seminars/information meetings for the population on legal issues, prevention of domestic violence, women's empowerment. The data from the research reports were disseminated to regional NGOs involved in this activity, and a map of the activities of CSOs operating in the field of the Rule of Law, in the field of women's empowerment, and in the field of coordination of CSO activities at the regional level was prepared.

Farmer Education Program

Chemonics/USAID

Our organization has collaborated with the Chemonics/USAID Land Reform and Farm Restructuring Project and the Chemonics/USAID Feed the Future Land Market Development Project within the framework of the Farmer Education Program. In Shaartuz, Nosiri Khusrav and Kabadian regions, Legal Assistance Centers were opened and 52 trainings were conducted for 808 farmers. 24 round tables with solving household problems with the participation of 355 people; 12 seminars for 181 representatives of local authorities and self-government bodies. Provided office and field consultations. A total of 1131 people were consulted, including 427 women and 704 men. Participated in 3 court cases and in the reorganization of 114 dekhkan farms, mediated, resolved disputes and wrote claims. Defended and lobbied for the rights of farmers in local authorities, government organizations and institutions.

Protection of Women's Rights

URGENT ACTION FUND FOR WOMEN’S HUMAN RIGHTS

Since October 2022, the Public organization "Bonuvoni fardo" has launched a project called "Protection of Women's Rights", supported by URGENT ACTION FUND FOR WOMEN'S HUMAN RIGHTS. We conduct trainings and meetings for both residents and local authorities to raise awareness, mobilize and promote the rights of rural women for their access to land and environmental justice. The project activities are implemented in 3 districts of Khatlon region: Shakhritus, Kabadiyan and Nosiri Khusrav.

Strengthening the capacity of CSOs through training and policy development

UN WOMEN/Regional Program Initiative "Spotlight for Central Asia and Afghanistan"

Since October 2022, the Public Organization "Bonuvoni fardo" has begun work within the framework of the project “Strengthening the capacity of CSOs through training and policy development”, supported by the UN WOMEN/Regional Program Initiative “A Spotlight for Central Asia and Afghanistan”. The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of the employees of the PO "Bonuvoni fardo" by conducting trainings on the following topics: training on assisting beneficiaries and risk management, training on accounting and developing accounting policies, training on writing project applications and developing a fundraising strategy.

Rights of women in the labor

Legal Support Program ICNL

PO "Bonuvoni Fardo" in Khatlon Region implemented the project "Rights of women in the labor", supported by USAID under the Legal Support Program ICNL. In order to promote the rights and interests of rural women in 3 districts of southern Khatlon region, we conducted an information and educational campaign to combat negative gender stereotypes and discrimination against women in the world of work, through:

  • Holding a regional meeting for the exchange of experience among 40 women of Shakhritus, Nosiri Khusrav and Kubodiyon;
  • Holding 8 round tables in 3 districts with information about the problems of women in labor, as well as important laws governing labor relations, the law “On Equality and the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination”, labor laws that restrict women's ability to participate in the labor market, putting them at a disadvantage, the ILO Convention "Elimination of Violence and Harassment in labor";
  • Publications of 9 thematic articles in newspapers of 3 districts, posts and videos in the social space and on the website of the organization www.bonuvonifardo.tj

Information Campaign on Targeted social aid

International organization ACTED

During three months of 2023, the PO "Bonuvoni fardo" of Khatlon region fruitfully implemented the project “Information Campaign for Targeted Social Aid in Shakhritus”, supported by the international organization ACTED at the expense of UKaid. Within the framework of the project, information meetings were actively held with the population in order to increase their awareness of targeted social aid. This project was implemented in partnership with the department of social protection of the population of the Hukumat of the Shakhritus district, and all information material was approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan. The local newspaper "Subhi Shahritus" published 6 thematic articles, and also were published posts in the social space. Also, within the framework of the project, an informational video about the TSA was broadcast on Khatlon TV.

"Women's Access to Land"

Mama Cash

Within the framework of the project "Women's Access to Land" financed by the Mama Cash Foundation, the PO "Bonuvoni Fardo" in 2024 joined the global campaign for Solidarity of Women of all countries, and on March 12, 2024, held a Round Table with the participation of 20 people, including 18 women and 2 men from among representatives of mahalla leaders, government agencies, activists, NGOs.

Conducted 55 trainings for 1038 women and 68 men, a total of 1072 people from Shahritus, Nosir Khusrav and Kubodiyon on the topic: Women's rights in the labor sphere and their access to land.

From June 27 to July 1, 2024, 8 people of the organization visited Termez and Tashkent, got acquainted with the progressive experience of 2 organizations. The main result of the exchange of experience was that cooperation was established with the NGO "Intilish", which translates as "Aspiration" for further joint partnership activities in cross-border projects. Since our countries are neighboring and border in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan and the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan. As part of this, an online meeting was held to exchange experience with these partners from Uzbekistan and NGOs from Kazakhstan. It was very interesting to learn about the experience of neighboring countries.

In 2024, legal practical assistance was provided to 405 women: in Shakhritus - 165 people, in Kubodiyon - 138 people, in Nosir Khusrav - 102 people.

Lobbied the rights to obtain a state registration certificate for 289 women from 3 districts for access to land:
- registration and creation of 19 new dehkan farms, managed by women.
- 235 women registered household plots and became their owners. 
- 9 women registered a land plot for various types of buildings for running an independent business (shop, cultural services and medical centers, hairdresser, banquet hall, canteens).

In December 2024, our organization joined the global campaign "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" and held an event at the medical and social college of the Shahritus district, which was attended by more than 50 people, 43 girls and boys.

In 2024, a total of 15 posts and 2 videos were published on social networks as part of the project.

In December 2024, 3 Round Tables were held in the Shahritus, Qubodiyon and Nosir Khusrav districts on the results of the "Women's Access to Land" project, in which 75 people, 51 women and 24 men, took part. At the meeting, we informed the public and authorities about the results of the project activities of the PO "Bonuvoni Fardo" for 2024. The specialists prepared and showed presentations with the results of the project work.

"Women's Rights in Agriculture and Their Access to Land"

American Embassy in Tajikistan

In 2024, the public organization "Bonuvoni Fardo" of the Khatlon region implemented the project: "Women's Rights in Agriculture and Their Access to Land". The project of the graduate of American programs Venera Dzhabarova - director of the public organization "Bonuvoni Fardo" of the Khatlon region, which was supported and financed by the American Embassy in Tajikistan.

Within the framework of the project, a series of thematic round tables were held together with a representative of the Hukumat of the Shahritus district and a petition from rural women was prepared to the leadership of the Hukumat with recommendations for improving the situation of women in agriculture.

Free legal assistance in state registration of land use rights was also provided.

Public attention was drawn to this problem through the publication of thematic posts in the social space and on the organization's website www.bonuvonifardo.tj.

“Promoting the development of border regions of southern Khatlon”

BOMCA 10 Border Management Programme in Central Asia

Since August 2024, the Public Organization "Bonuvoni Fardo" has been implementing the project "Promoting the Development of Border Regions of Southern Khatlon". The project is being implemented in the border regions of Shakhritus, Kubodiyon and Nosir Khusrav for 12 months.

The project is aimed at promoting the development of the border regions of southern Khatlon and improving their quality of life.

Within the framework of this project, the following will be done:

- A Business Education Center was created and the level of knowledge of 50 women and young people from migrant families in entrepreneurial skills was increased.

- Consulting assistance was provided to more than 300 people and support was provided in creating their own business for 10 women and young people from 3 districts.

- A network of CSOs "South Khatlon" was created for cooperation and increasing the potential of CSOs through training and 3 meetings to discuss issues of migration and cross-border areas.

- Public attention was attracted through the publication of posts on social networks and articles in the newspaper.

This project is funded by the European Union under the BOMCA 10 grant scheme. The BOMCA 10 programme is implemented by a consortium of border management agencies of selected European Union Member States and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), led by the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia.
